The ZED 12V Middle Man runs your 12V gear off two Milwaukee M18, Makita LXT or DeWALT XR/FlexVolt 18V/20V batteries. Fridge, lights, pumps, Starlink Mini. Job site, Vehicle, camp, shed.
Milwaukee Gen 3 kits run ZED Smart Contacts. Put in a 12Ah next to a 2Ah, a full pack next to a low one. Smart Contacts drain the fuller battery first until the pair is level, then draw both down together, and the two packs never back feed each other. No balancing. No matching. Nothing to think about. Just plug and play.
Our Smart LVD on Milwaukee and DeWALT kits cuts power before over-discharge, then hibernates at ultra-low draw, so a battery left connected for weeks is still a battery. Makita packs use their own internal disconnect.
Manufactured in Queensland Australia from actual quality components we name: Omron relays, genuine Anderson plugs, Australian-made copper wire, stainless hardware. UV conformal coated PCB's, Gen 3 housings are extra thick injection moulded in Covestro Bayblend, a German engineering plastic, impact resistant to minus 30 and flame retardant to UL 94 V-0. Not the generic ABS the cheap ones use.
Makita and DeWALT kits: The proven Gen 2 build. Same regulated 12V, same 10A output, same kit in the box. Polycarbonate housing, stainless hardware, genuine Anderson plugs. Works best with a matched pair of batteries. DeWALT models carry the Smart LVD; Makita packs use their own internal disconnect.

Milwaukee M18, Makita LXT and DeWALT XR/FlexVolt 18V/20V batteries all fit. You choose your battery brand at checkout and the adapter is built for that brand's connection. Batteries aren't included.
About 24 hours on two 6Ah batteries, from our own test: a 32L fridge set to 4ยฐC in 26ยฐC shade, pre-cooled, doors closed. Fridges cycle on and off, so real runtime varies with fridge size, brand and conditions. The Middle Man takes two batteries, so it runs longer and pulls more than our single-battery kits.
The regulated 12V/10A output (13.5V actual) runs 12V fridges, fans, lights, phones, pumps, a Starlink Mini and most small 12V electronics. At 10A it's the highest output in the ZED range, so it handles higher-draw gear than the Power Plate or Battle Station.
Yes. ZED's Smart Low Voltage Disconnect (LVD) cuts power at 14.0V under load before the battery over-discharges, then hibernates at ultra-low draw, so a Milwaukee or DeWALT battery can stay clipped in for weeks without being drained. Cheap units keep pulling current after "cut-off"; ours doesn't. Makita batteries have their own internal disconnect built in.
On Milwaukee Gen 3 kits, yes. Smart Contacts take two M18 batteries that don't have to match, different sizes and different charge levels. They drain the fuller battery first until the pair is level, then draw both down together, and the two batteries stay isolated from each other the whole time, so neither can feed or charge the other. Makita and DeWALT kits are Gen 2 and work best with a matched pair of batteries.
Gen 3 kits have an injection-moulded Covestro Bayblend housing, and on the Middle Man, ZED's new Smart Contacts. Milwaukee Middle Man and Battle Station kits are Gen 3 now. Makita and DeWALT kits are the proven Gen 2 build with a polycarbonate housing, and work best with a matched pair. The Smart LVD is on every Milwaukee and DeWALT kit, Gen 2 or Gen 3. The output is identical: regulated 12V.
It doesn't charge batteries. Vehicle bypass mode lets you plug into a 12V cigarette socket (ignition-isolated) and switch between car power and tool-battery power without swapping plugs between drives. You can also share a regulated solar panel via an Anderson Y-splitter. Both share power to your gear; neither charges the tool battery. (Bypass and solar cables sold separately.)
